Wolf Pack sweep Brewton-Parker on Friday night to earn first SSAC victory

Loyola defeat the Barons for the ninth-straight time dating back to 2001.

 

The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team entered the Gillis Gymnasium on Friday night looking for its first conference victory of the 2016-17 season. Friday night's matchup pitted the Wolf Pack against the winless Barons of Brewton-Parker, a team Loyola is a perfect 8-0 against dating back to 2001.

The Wolf Pack kept its unblemished record against the Barons in tact on Friday, sweeping Brewton-Parker 3-0 (20-25,18-25,15-25) to earn its first Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) win of the season.

With the victory, Loyola snaps a three-match losing streak to improve to 6-10 overall and 1-2 in league play.

Allison Hartmann (SO/Slidell, La.) led the Wolf Pack with a match-high nine kills, while Tylar Beckham (SO/New Orleans, La.) chipped in six kills on Friday night.  Maddie Huekels (SO/Dyer, In.) handed out a team-high eight assists off the bench, while Katie Philippi (SR/Metairie, La.) scooped 17 digs to lead all players.

For the Barons, Morgan Smith collected four kills and Shelby Tankersley dished out a team-high 11 assists in the loss.

The Wolf Pack continue its Georgia road trip this afternoon, Sept. 17, traveling to take on (RV) College of Coastal Georgia at 1:00 p.m.
