Bayside Academy has reeled off 21 straight wins and remains the Class 3A No. 1 team in in this week’s AL.com volleyball rankings.
The Admirals (26-1) were downed by Class 7A fifth-ranked Vestavia Hills on Aug. 27, but haven’t lost since, including winning their own tournament last weekend. Bayside beat Class 3A second-ranked Montgomery Academy (26-1) in the title match, handing the Eagles their only loss this season.
There were no changes among No. 1 teams as Class 7A McGill-Toolen, Class 6A Spanish Fort, Class 5A St. Paul’s, Class 4A St. James, Class 2A St, Luke’s, Class 1A Addison and AISA Coosa Valley all joined Bayside atop the rankings
Bayside was bolstered last week by the return of AL.com No. 2 A-List senior Ariel Dulaney. The 6-footer was injured in an auto accident before the season and is still not 100 percent, playing only three of six rotations.
The Admirals boast one of the strongest lineups in the state, including A-List No. 1 senior Lauren Chastang.
