More than 20,000 votes were cast for this week’s volleyball players of the week in North, Central and South regions of the state.
Gabrielle Bili of Hartselle was the North player while Sophia Ragusa of John Carroll was voted the Central Alabama choice and Ashley Hughes of Straughn was selected the South Player of the Week.
Bili set up the Tigers’ big hitters with 188 assists in winning seven matches to capture the Eddie Prueitt Ford Invitational tournament over the weekend. Bili collected 3,273 of 6,256 votes.
Ragusa helped the Cavaliers to a 5-2 record last week with 85 assists, 30 aces and 27 digs, including posting 19 aces against Bessemer City. She received 2,401 of 7,784 votes.
Hughes Led the Tigers to a pair of wins with 17 kills, 10 aces and seven blocks. She picked up 4,450 of 6,841 votes.
