Mbala leads Green Archers in takedown of Falcons

MANILA, Philippines – The DLSU Green Archers improved to an undefeated 5-0 in UAAP Season 79 following 91-75 victory over the Adamson Soaring Falcons on Saturday, September 24, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

Cameroonian big man Ben Mbala led the Green Archers with 21 points on an effective 9-of-11 shooting and also had 16 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks, while third-year man Kib Montalbo finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and two steals.

Rookie Aljun Melecio added 13 points in the winning effort, while Thomas Torres recorded 11 points.

La Salle exploded for 27 points in the second period to take a 15-point edge to the half and didn’t look back the rest of the way.

Adamson, which dropped to 3-2, was led by the 22 points of Jerrick Ahanmisi. Rob Manalang pitched in 15 points, while Papi Sarr had 14 points and 15 boards.

It was the first game for Falcons head coach Franz Pumaren to face his former team in the UAAP. – Rappler.com
