More than 20,000 votes were cast for this week’s volleyball players of the week in North, Central and South regions of the state.
Sabrina Duncan of Huntsville was selected the North player while Alex O'Brien of Briarwood Christian was the Central Alabama choice and Konner Wilks of St. Paul’s earned the South selection.
Duncan led the Panthers with 42 assists, 27 kills, 16 digs and seven aces in five during the East Coast Challenge tournament in Stuart, Fla.
She picked up 3,903 of 6,556 votes cast.
O’Brien helped the Lions to a 3-0 record last week with 27 assists, seven aces and 21 digs in three matches last week. She collected 2,543 of 6,789 in the closest voting of the week, edging Kalei Merrifield of Coosa Valley by 368 votes.
Wilks broke the school career digs mark last week — she has over 1,350 — as the Saints compiled a 7-2 record. The senior libero had 175 digs with a 2.4 passer rating on 125 serve-receive chances, adding nine aces four assists and 21 kills.
She picked up 3,380 of 7,188 votes.
