MANILA, Philippines – The UST Growling Tigers ran out of time in their late comeback attempt against the NU Bulldogs, eventually leading to their third loss of UAAP Season 79, 75-68, on Sunday, September 25, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Trailing by as many as 25 points, UST limited NU to only one field goal in the final period and trimmed the deficit to 7, 71-64, with 1:11 remaining in the contest.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, a foul by Marvin Lee then sent J-Jay Alejandro to the line, where he went 2-of-3, and created enough separation that let NU escape with the game given how little time was left.

After going scoreless in NU's last game, Alejandro led the Bulldogs in points with 16. Matt Salem also contributed 14 points and 10 boards for NU, which snapped a two-game losing skid and improved its record to 3-2.

UST, now 2-3, was led by the 17 points of birthday boy Louie Vigil. Jon Sheriff added 16 points and 7 rebounds. – Rappler.com
