Fans voted more than 26,000 times in selecting the volleyball players of the week throughout the state.

Lauren Martin of Albertville was the North Alabama selection while Sam Slaughter of Shelby County was chosen in Central Alabama and Darcy Sanford of Alabama Christian won the South Alabama vote.

Martin led the Aggies to the Albertville Invitational title with 67 kills and six blocks in five matches, and provided 89 kills and 12 blocks during a 7-0 record last week.

The senior outside hitter received 2,006 of 5,888 votes in the North balloting.

Shelby County’s Slaughter picked up 3,501 votes of 8,897 cast in Central Alabama.

Slaughter earned MVP of the Sipsey Valley Tournament with 87 assists and 95 percent serving in five wins.

Alabama Christian’s Sanford contributed 60 kills and 35 blocks in nine matches as the Eagles won the Silver Bracket at the Mayor’s Cup Tournament in Montgomery.

Sanford collected 5,332 of 11,885 South votes.
