MANILA, Philippines - The Adamson Lady Falcons’ four-game losing streak came to an end on Sunday, February 1, as they beat the UE Lady Warriors, 25-12, 25-22, 25-18, at the San Juan Arena.
Amanda Villanueva led all scorers with 13 points, while Mylene Paat and Jessica Galanza each put up 11 to help the Lady Falcons improve to 4-6 in the women’s volleyball tournament of UAAP Season 77.
UE, who hasn’t won a game in the past two seasons, fell to 0-10.
Adamson was didn’t receive much of a challenge in the first set as they cruised to an easy 13-point win.
In the second set, the Lady Falcons established a six-point lead, 16-10, before UE went on a 10-4 run to get within a pair of conversions. Nonetheless, Adamson made enough plays late to seal the period and take a 2-0 sets advantage.
UE went ahead by two, 16-14, in the third set before an 11-2 run by Villanueva and company sealed the game for their team.
Adamson is now in a four-way tie with the NU Lady Bulldogs, FEU Lady Tamaraws, and UP Lady Maroons for the fourth and final playoff seed.
AdU feasted on the battle of spike points, easily beating UE 39-25. The Lady Falcons also took advantage of 27 Lady Warriors errors that turned into points, and also had more block points, 7-4.
On defense, Adamson had 27 excellent digs while University of the East recorded just 14. The Lady Falcons also had more excellent sets, 22-12.
Shaya Adorador was the lone double-digit scorer for the Lady Warriors with 12 points. Angelica Dacaymat recorded 9 markers.
UE will go head to head with NU on Saturday, February 7. UE will go up against UP on the same day.
