Loyola kicks off a three-match home stand on Friday against Brewton-Parker at 7:00 p.m.
The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team capped off its three-match conference road trip on Sunday against Dalton State College inside the Bandy Gym.
The Wolf Pack (12-18, 6-9 SSAC) fell to the Roadrunners (8-14, 7-8 SSAC) 1-3 (25-21,23-25,26-24,25-12) on Sunday to give Loyola its fourth-straight defeat – tying its longest losing streak of the season.
Down 13-17 in the opening set, the Wolf Pack used kills from Tylar Beckham (SO/New Orleans, La.), Maddie Huekels (SO/Dyer, Ind.) and Allison Hartmann (SO/Slidell, La.) to string together five-unanswered points to knot the set at 18 all. The set would tie again at 19-19 before a 6-2 run by Dalton State handed the home team the 25-21 victory in the opening frame.
The second set saw eight ties with the final coming at 22-22. With the score locked at 22 a piece, a Roadrunner error paired with kills from Malea Howie (FR/Greenwood, Ind.) and Maddie Huekels gave the visitors the 24-23 advantage in the set. With the set on the line, Natavia Mitchell (SO/Austin, Texas) recorded one of the Wolf Pack's four service aces to give Loyola the 25-23 victory in set two.
Set three had both teams battle to a 24-24 stalemate. Eyeing the 2-1 match lead, Dalton State used back-to-back kills by Anna Metzler to grab the set 26-24.
The fourth set was controlled by the Roadrunners from the opening serve. Up 15-10, Dalton State closed out the match on a 10-2 spurt to take the 25-12 victory and seal the 3-1 win at home.
The Wolf Pack tallied a 0.062 (44-34-162) hitting percentage on Sunday afternoon with 41 assists, 67 digs and seven blocks.
Loyola featured two players with double-figure kills, highlighted by Beckham's 13 on 36 attempts. Hartmann collected 10 kills and a team-high two blocks while Huekels recorded an impressive 21 assists, 10 digs and seven kills on Sunday. Sunni Blanchard (FR/Pierre Part, La.) chipped in 17 assists against Dalton State and Katie Philippi (SR/Metairie, La.) scooped a team-high 16 digs in the loss.
Metzler led the Roadrunners with 20 kills and 12 digs.
