USD unanimous No.1 as top 7 teams the same in VBM Mid-Major Poll, SMU cracks top 25

The top seven teams in the VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll stayed the same this week, as San Diego, Western Kentucky, Creighton, BYU, Hawai’i, Long Beach State and Dayton all won all their matches.

The first change was at No. 8, where Marquette moved up one spot and Wichita State moved down one. Marquette split its Big East matches last week, beating Providence and losing to No. 3 Creighton.

Wichita State lost its only match of the week — to Missouri State, the team with which it’s tied for the lead in the Missouri Valley Conference — to go from 8th to No. 9.

Unanimous No. 1 San Diego is 19-2 and 10-0 in the West Coast Conference, two games ahead of No. 4 BYU (19-3, 8-2).

No. 2 WKU has won 13 matches in a row and 22-2 overall, 9-0 in Conference USA.

No. 3 Creighton is 16-6, 10-0 in the Big East. Two teams from the Big West, Hawai’i and Long Beach State, stayed at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. And Dayton, which has the nation’s best record at 22-1, 9-0 in the Atlantic 10, is No. 7.

SMU moved into the poll at No. 24. The Mustangs are 16-6 and at 9-1 lead the American Athletic Conference.

There were no big leaps or drops as the NCAA regular season reached the mid-point.
