Monday’s latest versions of the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll and the NCAA RPI are the same at No. 1, but very different in many ways after that.
In the AVCA, Nebraska is No. 1, followed by Big Ten mates Minnesota and Wisconsin. Kansas moved up to No. 4, while Texas is fifth.
But in the RPI, Nebraska is No. 1, followed by Wisconsin and Texas. Minnesota is No. 4, followed by San Diego at No. 5.
Some major disparities include Michigan at No. 17 in the AVCA but 11 in the RPI, Penn State at No. 11 in the AVCA but No. 24 in the RPI, and unranked at No. 14 in the RPI, two places above Kansas.
Dayton, which has the best record in the nation at 24-1, finally broke into the AVCA at No. 24, but the Flyers are No. 33 in the RPI. Unranked Missouri is 18th in the RPI and unranked UNLV is No. 22 in the RPI.
